1.) So tell us a little about yourself, your project, organization, or company that you’ll be displaying at the makerfaire

Hello! My name is Glenn Kauffman and I am a Jack-Of-All-Trades who primarily makes a living as a Creative Coder. We’re going to have a conversation about the Oculus Rift. Here is the synopsis of my talk:

“With the release of the second version of their developer kit and their recent purchase by Facebook, Oculus VR and the Oculus Rift is set to become the standard for mass-market consumer VR. What is the Oculus Rift and what do you need to know about it? We’ll talk about where we are now, where we’ll be in the future, and how you might soon be using the Oculus Rift (or a competing product) for leisure and maybe even work.”

2.) What got you into making or creating? Have you always been a tinkerer?

I have always had a love of taking things apart to see how they work and growing up along side modern personal computing is no different. From learning graphics programming via Logo on my Apple IIc to physical computing via Wiring with the Arduino, I’ve long played in both the software and hardware sides of creativity. The Oculus Rift is a natural extension on that interest.

3.) How did you get started on your current project? How long have you been working on your current project?

When the Oculus Rift first appeared on Kickstarter in late 2012, I was excited by the possibilities, both for gaming and general computing. As a interactive developer, the Oculus Rift was too important to pass up. Though it is never too late to get involved in development for VR, Oculus has continued to innovate, making now a great time to become involved with this important technology.

4.) How can people find out more about your project, company, or organization?
