Celebrate creative creations at this year’s Baton Rouge Maker Faire on Saturday, October 15, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.! Join us at the Main Library at Goodwood for a gathering of people who enjoy learning and love sharing what they do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for “makers” to demonstrate hobbies, experiments, projects, and more! This family friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness is something you won’t want to miss! Chef Philippe Parola will be our Maker Faire headliner this year and will be demonstrating how to prepare, clean, catch, and cook invasive species. We will also have  Makerspace programs at selected library branches throughout the month of October!

Our 9th Annual Maker Faire will shine a special spotlight on sustainability. Share your upcycling project with us! Send us a before and after photo, and we’ll feature them at this year’s Maker Faire! Upload your pics at ebrpl.co/upcycle, use the QR code provided, or email them to ebrplmakerspace@gmail.com along with your name and a brief description of your project. Upcycling is the process of transforming waste into something new. Upcycling can be any creative re-use or repurposing that gives new life to old stuff, such as plastic bottle planters, a pallet sofa, a quilt made out of old t-shirts, or magazine collages. We can’t wait to see your upcycled creations! Would you like to participate as a Maker in this year’s Maker Faire? Visit batonrouge.makerfaire.com/call-for-makers to get started!
