My booth will feature many products made by melty beads (also known as Perler beads), all for sale. Many of the art pieces are from video games and some are from anime. I will also have a small table available where passerbys can place beads on pegboards.

Corsplasticsmores

Corsplasticsmores is a local artist who specializes in pixel art crafted from Perler beads. Her work is mainly video game sprites but also includes designs from anime and other pop culture references!

What inspired you to make this project?
I have been a gamer since I was a small child. Years ago, I was working in a craft store and discovered Perler beads in the kids crafts section. This was about the same time Pinterest had become a popular app for crafts. Sometime when I was surfing through Pinterest, I came upon the art people were making with the Perler beads. When I discovered I could make video game sprites from beloved games with the beads, it led to a passion with melty beads that has never diminished. I enjoyed making art with Perler beads so much I decided to make the art for others, eventually making a business out of it.

What are some of the challenges you have encountered and how did you address them?
Some of the challenges I have faced with Perler beads have been:
Irons
My irons going out on me. One day, they just stopped working. I rectified this by buying a new iron every time this has happened. I am currently on Iron #4 since I started beading.

Suppliers
Over the years, crafts stores have both expanded and limited their supply of melty beads. I have also shopped online and witnessed small businesses open and close their online websites.

I have had to change bead suppliers over the years to counter this challenge.
