                            Laureano Cantarutti
I'm a composer, songwriter, maker, performer, multi-instrumentalist, podcaster and music producer from Córdoba, Argentina. Since 1994 I’m in continuous education and research. I had knowledge of music theory, harmony, classical guitar playingwith extended technique, Middle Eastern percussion, Throat Singing (harmonic singing), audio recording, musical composition and creation of lyrics, learned in differents institutions, such as: National University of Córdoba, cultural centers, conservatories and self-taught. My solo project "Law Cant" stands out for the mixture of conventional instruments and those created by me using the Circuit Bending technique. This project is the result of the continuos sound research and about making and using Circuit Bending devices as instruments in conjunction to the other conventional instruments that I use. I believe that this is one way to reuse and resignify those objects that are victims of the program obsolescense in a creative way and can help more people to do it. I often share the creation process via social media and them I uses the devices in my compositions and performances that I recorder on audio and video format. You can hear my first solo album called “(Cuando Todo) Fluye” in all the streaming plataforms (links at the end of this text). In 2020 I compiled and curated the first “Latin American Sound Map of Circuit Bending”, and audiovisual work that includes the participation of 32 artists from 11 countries of Latin America and 1 special guest from Canary Islands. It also includes research works about Circuit Bending for free download, special mentions and the participation of Reed Ghazala (father of the Circuit Bending) who had the opportunity to access to all the material before the publication; also he shared a message to all the artists. I host and produce the podcast "Sonido Interior" for the Centro Cultural España Córdoba (Argentina); it’s a podcast of interviews with Iberoamerican musicians who use Circuit Bending, Hybrid Luthery and DIY instruments in theircompositions/performances. The goal is to share the work of each artist and encourage people to discover their own inner sound. I’ve been participating in in different festivals, maker faires, compilations and national and international performances. What inspired you to make this project?

First of all, my love for music since I was little. Second, since I was a little kid I liked taking things apart to see what was inside, to understand what each device made up. Years passed, I knew and get involved into the Circuit Bending’s world and thanks to this art form I started to be able to answer those questions that remained pending for my little self, with the extra possibility of being able to modify these devices and turn them into my musical instruments.
